Can I send or receive emails using my Iridium 9575 Satellite Phone?

We often get asked can I receive or send emails using my iridium 9575 satellite phone. The answer is yes you can but we have some tips to make it cheaper for you. 

As the download speed in reality is just 2.4kbps as you can imagine it will be a slow process. So to speed it up simply go into your computer and in your email setting change it to "no images" or in some email settings it states "text only".

This will take out all images, logos, and signatures which generally can be as big as 1 megabite or more, this reduces the download time which reduces the cost to you as you pay per minute for your airtime. 

Iridium also have independent partners who have created compression software to reduces size or files whilst iridium themselves give you a disk and a usb cable within your purchase which has their own internet interface.

What this means is you are using your satellite phone purely as a modem. Most clients will dial into their email host and view their emails through iridiums web interface that they have downloaded on their computer from the software disk.
